Moral of the Story: Cubs are Lousy

Not much more to say…that is the gist.

I have been too busy over at swan tron dot com to spend very much time on this site. Plus, the Cubs have been awful.

I did a theme redesign on swantron…figured I would persist the change over here, for the case that anyone would find this site. A few do…a few do. Greetings.

I did a header update as well. Out with the old:

In with the new. Look to the top. Perhaps I will get on a post or two as the season winds down. Perhaps…

Barney vs Scales

The 2011 Cubs infield has a question mark in one primary spot. What to do with second base?

After dealing both Cajuns last season, we are left with DeWitt as the primary 2-bagger for the time being. Baker is the new jack-of-all-trades, but DeRosa he is not. He will make for a nice platoon partner with Pena, as he can cover first as well.

Here is my suggestion:

I’d love to see Bobby Scales in the line-up. I have a feeling that Darwin Barney will beat him out, as he is solid at 2nd and can snag balls at short. Time will tell, but I think Scales’ stick would be a nice addition this season.

Bullpen Bullshit, Again

Once again, the Cubs had a stellar outing by a starting pitcher.
Once again, the Cubs had little help from the sticks.
Once again, the bullpen sucked it up.
Once again, Sean Marshall threw like a champ.

This season seems a lot older than two series deep.

Gorz followed Silva by putting together a solid start. More solid than I’m guessing most of us would have hoped for. Grabow shit the bed, again, and the sticks were largely silent in big situations.

I guess we need about 5 solo shots to get a W. Meh.
